Aaron de Jesus
Vanessa Manrique, who plays Angela, is an 11-year-old student from Kitchener, Ontario. She enjoys watching YouTube videos, fashion, and performing through singing, dancing, and piano. Vanessa is the youngest of four siblings, which has influenced her to learn as much as she can and overcome any challenges. When she grows up, her dream job is to become a successful YouTube blogger or an interior designer.
Sam Estrabillo is a freelance illustrator from Hamilton, Ontario who studies graphic design at Sheridan College. He is the first artist in a family of doctors, lawyers, and engineers and, initially, he found his work was not easily accepted. This challenge has motivated Sam and he's passionate to show you the world through his artwork. Sam strives to produce images that not only look professional but also have the power to encourage viewers to delve deeper into the world that he has created through his art.
Aaron de Jesus is a fourth year undergraduate student in the Integrated Science program at McMaster University. His background in science research, and his minor in Theatre and Film Studies has inspired him to pursue work in science communication through multimedia. Aaron also freelances as a cinematographer in the surrounding Hamilton area, producing both corporate and personal short films.
Dr. Samaan is a Pediatric Endocrinologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University and McMaster Children's Hospital. His research focus is in understanding metabolic health in children to help determine who is at risk of developing diabetes, and interventions to help children manage their diabetes and improve their outcomes. Sachin Sergeant, who plays Tim, is a 12-year-old Grade 7 French Immersion student from Hamilton, Ontario. He is an avid soccer player and enjoys participating in spoken word poetry. He loves spending time with his Labrador retriever dogs, Lucie and Hannah, and listening to rap music. His favourite rap music artist is Shad.
Jane de Jesus, who plays the mother, has worked in clinical research since 2001 as a coordinator and monitor both locally and internationally. Her background is in International Epidemiology on cardiovascular research (i.e. diabetes and obesity in adults and children) encompassing longitudinal studies, case control, and randomized control trials. She recently joined the Mental Health and Addiction Program at McMaster University and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, primarily in addictions research. Jane has been a certified Clinical Research Professional since 2003, and she's currently pursuing a Business Administration, Management concentration. Jane has been happily married for 25 years, and is the proud mother of three beautiful children.
